Aircraft Field Service Representative (FSR) – Avio

       

The Field Service Representative (FSR) is the subject matter expert for fixed-wing airplanes, helicopters, avionics, or mission equipment within their product responsibilities. The FSR provides technical oversight of maintenance and modification activities for all CBP aircraft.

Job Duties:

Provide field support to maintainers and operators to diagnose and resolve equipment issues.
Identify and record systemic issues and communicate back from the field.
Provide configuration control of aircraft/products within the FSR’s area of expertise.
Support the Government configuration change process by identifying data requirements, mandatory service bulletins, and non-mandatory notices and advisories which may require an aircraft configuration change.
Provide cost estimates and a recommendation, with supporting rationale, as to whether a service bulletin or engineering change request should be implemented.
 Troubleshoot sensor/mission equipment, avionics systems for both comm and nav systems.
Recommend changes to, or implementation of avionic systems inspections, refurbishments, or life-limits to prevent unscheduled, but predictable failures.
Collaborate with peers when integrating new system(s).
Recommend changes to maintenance procedures, or implementation of maintenance process controls to prevent unscheduled, but predictable failures.
Provide technical interface with third-party OEM, modifier, integrator, and service providers.
Manage fielding, warranty claims, and rework with service providers; verify work completed to ensure quality is maintained.
Provide oversight of subcontractor or vendor support activities in-progress to assure standards are met.
Support introduction of new aircraft, mission system upgrades, test and evaluation of new capabilities or technologies.
Stay engaged with industry for avionics and sensor systems, keeping up with new products and understanding system obsolescence.
Support Director, Aircraft Material Readiness designated surge activities and special security events.
Develop and provide technical training on products within area of expertise.
Work independently with little direction.
Perform other qualified duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Customs and Border Protection suitability clearance.
High school diploma or GED required.
Valid State driver’s license required.
Five (5) years manufacturing/maintenance/modification/quality experience related to any or all of the following: Textron Model B300, Sikorski UH60, Airbus AS350, Cessna C206, Pilatus PC-12 and De Haviland Dash-8 aircraft.
Five (5) years experience troubleshooting, installing or integrating avionics or sensor system.  
Experience with any or all of the following: Sea Spray and Seavue Radar systems, FLIR HD and WESCAM camera systems.
Specialized training or experience providing subject matter expertise in supported products.
Ability to communicate effectively and deal diplomatically with customers, dealers and employees is a high requirement.
Ability to work independently and make decisions regarding service and customer support
Advanced knowledge of electrical, electronic, mechanical and associated systems of aircraft as applied to maintenance and modifications.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite of software.
Proficient in developing CAD drawings for engineering support requirements, and wiring diagrams.
Ability to understand technical language terms and writing skills.
Must have knowledge of FAR’s to include experience with completing Field Approvals and Forms 337.
Must be able to read and interpret wiring diagrams and blueprints.
Must have working knowledge of tools and test equipment used in the repair and troubleshooting of sensor and avionics systems.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment:

Frequent exposure to aircraft operations with extreme temperatures and high-noise.
May be an austere environment.

Preferred Qualifications

FAA Mechanic certificate with Airframe & Powerplant ratings preferred.
FAA Inspection Authorization preferred.
