Mechanical Engineer
Amentum is seeking a mechanical engineer to support operations at the DOE National Energy Technology Laboratory in Pittsburgh, PA . This position will support the research engineering group by; performing small scale design projects, evaluating and optimizing existing systems, troubleshooting systems, and working closely with fellow site operations personnel.
Position Requirements:
Efficiently use AutoDesk AutoCAD and Inventor to prepare mechanical engineering drawings in 2D and 3D including but not limited to Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), mechanical fabrication drawings, and room/building layout drawings.
Prepare and check moderately complex calculations within the Mechanical Engineering discipline, including pipe/vessel design calculations and pressure relief valve sizing calculations in accordance with ASME codes such as B31.3, Section VIII and IX.
Independently lead design/build projects across all 3 NETL sites.
Review interdisciplinary engineering documents and work with other members of the engineering team to resolve any issues.
Create and/or review purchase orders, statements of work, and subcontracts.
Support in-house technicians on new installations and maintenance/modification issues.
Assist with the development of man hour estimates for design, fabrication, and installation.
Maintain a positive working relationship with and communicate effectively to the customer
Minimum Requirements
US Citizen
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
5 years’ experience,
Preferred Qualifications
PE in Pennsylvania and/or West Virginia preferred.
Ability to complete Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of small scale designs using ANSYS software.
Experience with MasterCAM programming.
