UH-1 A&P Journeyman Technician
The Journeyman Technician shall be responsible for and possess the ability to:
Work independently in a central aviation maintenance facility or work unsupervised off site at outlying field locations
Perform depot level and field maintenance to rotor-craft, engines, propellers, rotors, components and systems in accordance with approved procedures
Independently and inspects and repairs rotor-craft, engines, components and systems and assess for damages, condition and method of repair
Inspect rotor-craft and determine problems and correct deficiencies
Inspects rotor-craft and systems for continued airworthiness
Return rotor-craft to service after major and minor maintenance and repair
The Journeyman Technician shall not conduct any structural nor electrical repair work without Lead Technician supervision.
The Journeyman Technician shall have knowledge of:
FAA federal aviation regulations pertaining to the maintenance and repair of rotor-craft
FAA – approved maintenance practices, techniques and procedures
Rotor-craft shop maintenance operational procedures and fleet rotor-craft structure, systems, controls, engines and components
All District’s fleet rotor-craft, engines, and airframe systems
The Journey Technician assigned to maintain the district’s rotor-craft shall meet the following minimum qualifications:
Posses a FAA A&P certificate
Posses a valid class C California drivers license or comparable from another state
Have five years of experience as a Journeyman level certified A&P technician preforming rotor-craft inspection and maintenance, with not less than one year of experience specifically performing inspections and maintenance of Bell UH-1H rotor-craft or similar variant models. At the District’s discretion, Military experience may qualify for the 5 year entry level requirement if the level of work and responsibility was equal to that of a certified A&P technician.
