Come build your career with us.Engineers at our Endicott NY location support the following Business Area’sControls & Avionics Solutions (CAS):In Controls & Avionics Solutions, you will have the opportunity to help define and develop the next generation of avionics – whether it is fly-by-wire flight controls, full authority digital engine controls, or power management.http://www.baesystems-ps.com/interactive/cas.htmDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Candidate will lead a team of Software Developers in developing real-time embedded electronics solutions for high integrity and safety critical applications through all stages of the software development cycle (requirements, design, code, and verification).Candidate will work with Systems and Hardware Engineers to translate business needs and customer requirements into technical solutions, including performing SW/HW integration testing, verification, and debug.Responsibilities may include reverse engineering existing code bases to address problem reports, implement enhancements and improve overall structure for maintainability.The Software Lead will be part of an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment supporting a diverse cross-functional team.The Software Lead will be expected to present to a wide variety of stakeholders including customers, managers and business area leaders.Required Education, Experience, & SkillsRequired SkillsCandidate must have:A proven track record of successfully leading Software development teams, delivering on commitments, and mentoring and developing their team.Full software lifecycle leadership experience from requirements development through verificationExperience with one or more embedded software programming languages such as C.Experience in Cost and Schedule tracking (EVM)Technical writing skills: capable of creating required engineering documentation.U.S. citizenshipAbility to Obtain a Secret ClearanceBS with 8+ Years of Experience, MS with 6+ Years’ Experience, or PhD with 5+ Years of Experience in avionics or electronic controls embedded developmentPreferred Education, Experience, & SkillsPreferred Education and ExperienceBachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or other related technical field.Preferred Skills and EducationExperience in any the following areas is a plusExperience in Safety Critical or Mission Critical Industries such as: Aerospace, Military, Medical, Automotive, Industrial / Energy / NuclearExperience with ARM/PowerPC processors and associated System on Chip featuresExperience developing device drivers/board support packagesExperience with developing software to DO-178 standardsFamiliar with data transfer protocols (ARINC 429, RS-232, MIL-STD-1553)Experience with MATLAB SimulinkExperience with Auto Generated codeAbout BAE Systems Electronic SystemsBAE Systems, Inc. is the U.S. subsidiary of BAE Systems plc, an international defense, aerospace and security company which delivers a full range of products and services for air, land and naval forces, as well as advanced electronics, security, information technology solutions and customer support services.
