The location for this role is yet to be decided, but will be based at one of our locations in California (somewhere between San Francisco and Los Angeles areas). You can expect to spend up to 25% of your time on business travel within the continental United States.


What You’ll Get to Do:

·       Actively market the Company Brand, establish customer expectations, and shape opportunities by creating white papers, sponsoring in-house demonstrations, and responding to RFIs and similar activities.  You will conceptualize the need, organize the correct company participants, assist in developing solutions, and lead the collaboration to completion.

·       Build and qualify a new business pipeline based on high-end photonics technology in the emerging Optical Comms and Space markets.  Your primary focus is to build/maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities that align with NSIS/TIL/Photonics Labs strategic vision for growth within the IC & DoD market space.

·       Create, manage, and implement go-to-market plans (to articulate and generate consensus for strategic vision, action plan, competitive intelligence, investments, business case, etc.) within the NSIS Optical Comms and Space markets with targeted customers (both Government and Large Scale Integrators (LSIs)).

·       Develop and present milestone briefings to senior management in support of investing in and pursuing strategic opportunities in these markets.

·       Engage customers in identifying and shaping opportunities.  This includes active communication of filtered, actionable intelligence back to Sector, BD, and functional group staff.

·       Support Captures and Proposals to maintain continuity across the BD lifecycle, enhancing our ability to win as opportunities pass from qualification into capture and then proposal.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

·       Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.

·       Have a strong network of customer contacts and must be familiar with the customer’s major programs and upcoming initiatives.

·       The candidate should have a working knowledge of the Federal procurement process, and a demonstrated proficiency with IC and DoD strategy and acquisition plans.

·       Demonstrated ability to execute the business development function with minimum supervision.

·       Effective leader/participant in formal presentations to clients and potential teaming partners; proven track record of building winning teams as well as successfully negotiating with potential team members as to roles and participation.

·       Strong written and oral communication skills.

·       1+ years performing Business Development (sales, marketing, capture, proposal) activities, especially in pursuit of high-end technology-based solutions within the IC & DoD markets within the Federal space, as well as some commercial experience.

·       Understanding of the IC / DoD technologies and LSI vendors that are often selected to deliver these capabilities.

·       Active TS Clearance needed to start.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

·       Detailed insight into the Optical Comms and Photonics requirements within IC and DoD current and future programs is strongly desired.

·       Working experience and personal relationships with LSIs, such as Boeing, Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, L-3 Harris, within the IC and DoD market space is strongly desired.

·       Formal training in the Shipley capture process is strongly desired.

·       TS/SCI Clearance desired.
