We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Flight Test Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning, execution, and reporting of flight test programs for our rapidly growing company and flight test capability. This role requires a thorough understanding of flight test principles and practices, as well as experience with flight test instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to engage with and work on a variety of platforms across Mission Systems portfolios within Collins Aerospace. These will span fixed-wing, rotary-wing, fighter, manned and unmanned, aided teaming, and strategic C2/C3 platforms.
Primary Responsibilities:
Lead for bidding, planning, execution of flight test programs – including SIL, ground testing, flight testing, data analysis, and reporting.
Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure flight test programs meet safety, regulatory, and customer requirements.
Develop and maintain flight test plans, test cards, and test reports.
Analyze flight test data and present results to internal and external stakeholders.
Identify and troubleshoot technical issues related to flight test programs.
Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, standards, and procedures.
Flight Test Experience
Develop & maintain flight test plans, procedures, and schedules in coordination with the program manager and government customers.
Lead technical and flight reviews in support of test program timelines and goals.
Analyze product/stakeholder specifications and requirements and develop test designs and approaches to best support them within time and cost constraints.
Ensure that flight test activities are conducted safely and efficiently, and that all personnel adhere to established safety protocols and procedures.
Analyze flight test data and provide recommendations for system improvements and corrections to the design and development team.
Prepared and delivered flight test reports and briefings to customers and program stakeholders.
Support of verification testing, transition to production, and field issue resolution.
Project Execution
Work closely with program management and technical disciplines to ensure that flight test activities are integrated with other program activities and requirements.
Manage flight test budgets and resources and identify and mitigate risks to program success.
Provide technical leadership to program teams.
Contribute to the proposal and business development process to support future flight test program opportunities.
Maintain knowledge of industry best practices, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements related to flight testing.
Effectively communicate with team members, manufacturing, supply chain, program management, senior leaders, customers, and key stakeholders as required.

Basic Qualifications:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience
Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Relevant experience includes flight test planning and execution, data analysis, test design and architecture, and/or process improvement.
Ability to travel 30% of the time, with occasional surge needs.
Ten plus years’ experience in:
Flight test safety programs and hazard analysis.
Flight test planning in DoD and Commercial aviation test plan authoring
Air worthiness requirements within the DoD and FAA
Flight Test Director role, test card authoring and Flight Test execution
Planning and coordinating airspace and range utilization
Test reporting and writing
Pursuit order capture, proposal writing, bid and estimation experience for Flight Test and Evaluation efforts on medium ($50M) to very large ($500M+) scale programs
Experience with budget and cost management. Ability to organize and manage multiple products/programs with the focus on delivering within cost and on schedule.

The salary range for this role is 112,000 USD – 236,000 USD; however, Raytheon Technologies considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
