Title:
Aerospace Engineer
KBR is seeking a highly qualified Aerospace Systems Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will possess a understanding of government satellite systems, a insight into orbital mechanics fundamentals, and the ability to perform analysis as well as modeling and simulation of complex space systems. Modeling and Simulation actives will support of development and validation of requirements, Concept of Operations (CONOPs), architecture products, system schedules, and risks for end-to-end closure of the baseline for Space protection-related activities in the overall Enterprise.
Responsibilities:
Apply orbital mechanics, to include propagation, propulsion, and error estimation to solve a variety of aerospace engineering problems
Write engineering software scripts in a variety of languages for both problem solving and visualization
Conduct orbit determination analysis and simulate observations
Measure the performance of space systems and their interaction with other constellations
Design and implement a model framework for space situational awareness engineering and analysis.
Implement new sensor phenomenology for experimental applications.
Design engineering experiments for the purpose of understanding system design impacts or identifying optimal parameter settings.
Explain and effectively communicate complex engineering analyses and studies to government and corporate management.
Establish a plan for a project and to accomplish goals embodied by the plan.
Contribute to team efforts or to operate completely independently.
Interface with customers, directorate/office representatives, and across system engineering groups to drive resolution plans and strategies for complex technical challenges.
Generate and maintain technical documentation and reports.
Minimum Qualifications:
A B.S. in a STEM degree (Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science), or other related fields
3 to 5 years of experience conducting orbital mechanics/aerospace engineering analysis, modeling, and simulation.
Experience with a variety of scripting languages for simulation model development and engineering analysis, e.g. Matlab, Python, R, Perl, or related languages
Experience modeling space objects
Demonstrated initiative and strong ownership of deliverables.
Preferred Qualifications
5-10 years of experience in orbital mechanics/aerospace engineering
Experience with the Intelligence Community
Some statistics background is desired.
Experience with remote sensing, to include an understanding of sensor payloads and their Concept of Operations (CONOPs)
Security Requirements: Active Top Secret clearance and eligible for SCI. Current TS/SCI preferred.
