Title:
Protection Systems Engineer
KBR is seeking a Mission Protection Systems Engineer to join our team in Chantilly, VA. KBR’s National Security Solutions (NSS) division provides high-end engineering, intelligence, cyber security, missile defense, and advanced technology solutions to our customers in the intelligence and national security communities, helping them solve their most difficult challenges. In this position, you’d be working on a team making a profound impact on the country’s most critical role – protecting our national security.
This position provides Systems Engineering and Technical Advisory (SETA) services to customer’s efforts via CONOPs and requirements development, mission integration, launch and initialization, flight operations, and protection of mission systems. While your duties may fluctuate, you will primarily be responsible for:
Performing technical analyses of mission systems and related protection activities; document, and present findings and recommendation
Providing subject matter expertise on satellite (bus and payload) development lifecycle, constellation; integration, transition to operations
Providing technical leadership for the integration of requirements, design, and technologies
Analyzing concepts of operations, user requirements, and high-level systems architectures to develop system requirements
Collaborating with the government, SETA team members, development contractors, and FFRDC to address customer priorities
Effectively communicating and interfacing with engineers from various contractors and government organizations; prepare and present briefings to customer on technical topics when requested
Required Qualifications
Top Secret/SCI clearance with polygraph
Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) or relevant field and five (5) years or more experience; Master’s Degree in STEM or relevant field and three (3) years or more experience
Knowledge of satellite operations and satellite components (bus and payload) and associated ground systems; and related mission protection topics
Experience in operational readiness, rehearsals, and system testing
Program lifecycle experience from concept development and design to deployment and operational maintenance
Experience with requirements development, interface control documentation, technical specification review, architecture and CONOPS development
Experience in mission operations environment – ops tempo, performance characterization, utility analysis, system calibrations
Well-versed at defining solutions for broad, abstract topics; succinctly captures issues for the customer and provides analysis and recommendations
Polished communicator (written and verbal) with impeccable interpersonal skills and personal judgment; readily generates consensus or path forward on challenging topics.
Self-starter, anticipates and proactively addresses customer requirements with no supervision; ability to manage multiple tasks and deliverables
Excellent data management skills and use of appropriate tools, such as MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, etc.
Desired Qualifications
Real-time operations experience as a spacecraft or ground systems operator
Familiar with MBSE/Digital Engineering, AGILE development, cloud technologies
Experience with Jira, Confluence
