Title:
Mid-level Communications Transport Systems Engineer
KBR is seeking a mid-level Communications Transport Systems Engineer to provide End to End (E2E) Systems Engineering support for the development and fielding of Communications Transport major systems, ensuring their successful acquisition, and the success of the government customer. As a Communications Transport Systems Engineer, you will perform various engineering, systems engineering, and analysis activities including planning and integration; requirements, schedule, risk, and configuration management; lifecycle readiness, verification and validation, transition management and mission assurance. Additionally, the Communications Transport Systems Engineer will be instrumental in working with all customer stakeholders supporting their successful transition of these functions to a fully Digital Engineering environment.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Perform requirements verification and validation throughout the acquisition processes to ensure delivered capabilities meet the needs of the customer
Engineer, allocate, and articulate the flow of Enterprise, System, and Functional level requirements using robust and disciplined customer approved processes ensuring maximum flexibility within acquisitions and traceability
Provide Systems Engineering E2E analysis, expertise, and oversight into lifecycle planning and delivery
Advise and assist the customer on the E2E acquisition related process improvements, engaging with mission partner and user communities for effectiveness and efficiencies feedback
Effectively communicate acquisition decisions using the appropriate architecture products, digital models, briefings, and variety of available and approved tools for the customer (e.g., internal enterprise, mission partners, user community and other stakeholders)
Assess potential changes to the acquisition for impact E2E
Provide Communications Transport expertise in support of analysis of alternatives
Monitor trends in collection needs and new technologies for acquisition and architectural opportunities
Conduct analysis and provide assessments on Communications Transport technical capabilities and system performance
Perform modeling, simulation, analysis, and studies of E2E systems capabilities
Provide expertise in developing maintaining, and enhancing Communications Transport related modeling and simulation tools
Perform product and data quality analysis for Communications Transport systems
Support the conduct of Communications Transport Systems Engineering functions to the DE domain, ensuring new work products and compliant and interoperable with established customer standards
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or related STEM
Three plus (3+) years’ experience in supporting Government customer Communications Transport acquisitions
One-two (1-2) years’ experience with scientific/engineering Modeling and Simulation or assessments
Professional experience with development of Communications Transport systems
Experience with radio frequency theory
Experience with Digital Signal Processors
Experience with RF communications systems engineering and/or integration
Experience with RF antenna design, analog and digital signal conversion, and Satellite Communications
Experience with waveforms, waveform design, and characteristics reducing probability of detection/interception/exploitation
Program/project management experience
Demonstrated experience with communications and/or transport systems including both space and ground architectures
Demonstrated experience within the various elements of E2E systems engineering processes within the customer organization
Detailed knowledge of customer’s mission capabilities (to include Multi-INT domains) utilizing communication and transport services
Detailed knowledge of the Communications Transport system acquisition process
Detailed experience with Communications Transport tasking, collection, processing, exploitation, and dissemination processes
Systems Engineering experience with knowledge of Model-Based Engineering applications and technology
Desired Qualifications:
Masters or PhD in related field
Seven to nine (7-9) years’ experience in supporting Government customer Communications Transport systems acquisitions across multiple Major System Acquisition Offices
Five (5) plus years’ experience with scientific/engineering Modeling and Simulation or assessments
Two to three (2-3) years’ experience with software development or software engineering projects
Experience with Software development or software engineering projects
Experience with applications/programs such as AGI’s Systems Tool Kit, MATLAB, SIMULINK, Python, Tableau, and C++
Demonstrated experience with the Systems Modelling Language (SysML) and the Unified Architecture Framework (UAF)
Systems Engineering experience with Model-Based Engineering applications and technology
Experience with Cameo, SparxEA, or Rhapsody tool suites
Experience with the development of executable systems models
OMG-Certified Systems Modeling Professional certification or demonstrated commensurate level of knowledge
Experience working in an Agile development environment
