SUMMARY: KBR is looking to hire a Senior IT Accessibility Specialist for the NASA SEWP Information Technology Support Services (SITSS) contract in Greenbelt, MD. On our team of integrated, mission-focused personnel, you’ll work side-by-side with our NASA customers to meet their evolving needs and tackle the exciting challenges that come with supporting NASA, the number one place to work in the Federal Government. The position will be located at the NASA SEWP Program Management Office (PMO) in Greenbelt, MD.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Senior Accessibility Specialist is responsible for direct support to the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center Section (GSFC) 508 Program Manager, operating out of the NASA’s Solutions for Enterprise-Wide Procurement (SEWP) Government Wide Acquisition Contract (GWAC) Program Management Office.
The GSFC Section 508 program scope includes ensuring conformance to Information Technology accessibility laws, policies, and guidelines for GSFC in Greenbelt, MD, the Wallops Flight Facility, the Goddard Institute for Space Studies, the Independent Verification and Validation facility, and the White Sands Complex. NASA Agency-level and Headquarters procurement are also supported regarding IT accessibility.
Duties include developing GSFC accessibility guidelines and processes to support Section 508 implementation.
Guidance will be provided to GSFC customers on the following processes: procurement of information and communications technology (ICT), development of ICT (including software, website, electronic content in documents, presentations, etc.), and the software release process.
Conduct ICT accessibility training for the GSFC community, including administration and mission audiences.
Guidance on remediation for non-conforming products will be given as well as remediation services when needed in support of the SEWP Program Office.
Attend and support government-wide Section 508 conferences and events representing NASA/GSFC.
Support the Federal CIO Council Accessibility Community of Practice by assisting the Chairperson of the Vendor/Outreach Committee with planning events to promote the adoption of the 2018 Section 508 laws.
Provide guidance in the design, documentation, development, modification, testing, installation, implementation, and support of new or existing applications software using life cycle process.
Create training programs and deliver training for software developers and program managers providing guidance on several technical topics including Section 508, Quality Assurance, and software development technologies.
Work with teams to implement migration of systems to the cloud environment and provide requirements for cloud capabilities needed for improved system performance and availability.
Work with development teams on improving and maintaining the data model and data architecture for the contract.
Review proposed policies, regulations, and procedural changes to determine their impact on areas of responsibility including updates to the NASA Section 508 policy.
Coordinate the common use of core software across multiple platforms and troubleshooting procedures for related applications.
Update testing methodology for Section 508 based on recent update to the Section 508 technical standards.
Provide technical expertise in analyzing, diagnosing, and resolving problems in support of Web platforms and applications.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
Applicant must possess a strong understanding of ICT Accessibility in the Federal government. Specifically, the applicant must be knowledgeable of the process changes required as a result of the Section 508 standards refresh, including exceptions and references to external standards (e.g. Web Content Accessibility Guidelines). Position requires occasional local and national travel.
Ability to assess and remediate ICT for accessibility
Previous Federal Government experience (as a contractor or government employee)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to deliver presentations and training to government and industry audiences representing various levels and functions
Self-starter with strong problem-solving and strategic thinking skills
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
Sound business acumen
Strong organizational skills
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in business or related field
5+ years of progressive information and communications technology accessibility experience including policy development, customer outreach, and training
